Week 3 Challenge SYTYCS! Lianne’s style

20 06 2008

So this week at the So You Think You Can Scrap? challenge over at Scrapbooking by Design was week 3 Liannes turn. This was the brief and so far this is the one Ive struggled with the most.
You must use at least one example of each of the following on your entry…

fabric/ribbon/lace strips
paint used with an object to stamp
strip journalling
labels (bought or found)
mixed alphas
hand stitching
and… something unexpected…something you wouldn’t usually think to put on your page (think outside the square here girls and surprise us!!)

Can’t say any of these elements scared me. It’s just that I don’t gel with bubble wrap painting or pipe cleaners. Nothing wrong with them, I just don’t use them, the same way some people don’t use vintage dress patterns (on just about every one of my layouts lol) I can say I was horrified to mix alphas… something I think I may now be cured of lol. I still like to sit and stare at my paper and take 15 hours for a page to come together, but now I can see that I can incorporate a pipe cleaner here and there and not have to get out the valium afterward. LOL at myself. So here’s this week…

and I rightfully give all the credit in the world to the girls who can and who love to scrap in this style. It was hard for me lol

Found this site and can say it gives me hope that at least my photoshop disasters won’t end up at the axis of an international marketing campaign… enjoy
Photoshop Disasters

Anyway off to a scrapping retreat this weekend… whooooooo hooooooooooo!

See ya next week, thanks for the drop by!

12 06 2008

This is my entry for this week SYTYCS, good luck to everyone… I’m loving how this comp is getting me out of my scrap-rut.

It seems like I’ve been away a lot longer than 24hours. I stayed here..

the Menzies is an instritution in Sydney and about a central as it gets. I had the best time, even though it was a whirlwind training trip. I was there for Time Management and I learnt heaps. Missed Fred The Needle by about 10 mins. BUt i hope to get back there next week while I’m on hols. Heaps more to tell but I’m going to be late for work if I don’t move my butt NOW!!

See ya and thanks for dropping in!

When I said blogging daily…..

8 06 2008

I just found this stuff…

You know sorta dail-y… in the day-time, well today’s a day!

Anyway… So I’m working all this long weekend, and our neighbours (about a kilometre away) had a party last night God bless them and their 10 million watt stereo! The Singleton Army Barracks have a huge fireworks celebration (well they actually have a few – one is always on the girls birthday weekend – go figure?) over the Queens birthday long weekend… guess that willl stop when we’re a republic lol… so we have a great view of those fireworks… we start to hear the load cracks and we all run out side to ooooh and ahhhh over the prettyness… It goes on for about 15 minutes… like I said it’s huge. Claire said they were sooooo cooooooool!

So there’s not much to say really. The scrap journal is getting a battering with ideas… which is great! but I cant start week 2 for SYTYCS until Ive finished two baby presents for Heidi and Karen who are two of Claire and Charlottes teachers, leaving St Patricks Kindy to have their babies. I promised myself I need to have them done before the babies arrive lol. I will show the pressies here before I wrap them,

need to get going now… here’s a pic

oh and P.S. I’m just clucky and WANT more babies… I’ve no idea who with lol! My biological clock only just started ticking lol, but it’s got one hell of a loud tock! lol Who knows whats ahead. I’m only 36 so time will tell.

*clears throat* ehh eck hem… Is this thing on?

5 06 2008

Soooooooooooooooooooo…..

It’s been 8 months since my last blog entry (crikey that’s almost long enough to gestate a whole human lol) (btw I am more clucky now than I have been in my life – I want another couple of babies and yes I probably am insane)… and to say that nothing has happened that might be worth blogging about… well um jeez… not entirely true, I’ve just been busy with… life n that???

Can a girl get away with such a sweeping statement? Let’s see shall we?

So I won’t bore you with every little detail… I’ve made handbags and scrapped a whole 3 layouts. Go me! Anyway hope to keep bloging daily from now on. Yep… who cares? lol … but I took a photog class last weekend with Janine Kaye and I realised that I’m missing out on documenting the stuff I know I’m going to forget… the little (but great) stuff of life… my life… our life. The class was brilliant! Thanks Janine and Sasha. Janine graciously lent me her fixed 50mm 1.4 lens for some shots and I have HAVE HAVE to have one. I was taking pics today inside the house and every one was blurry and as Im shooting pretty much all the time in AV mode the shutter speed is just too slow for my (big) 5.6 lens. I’m lay-bying a p&s at the moment though (just for the handbag you know)… so the $500 lens has to wait a bit… if I just stopped bloody spending on scrap stuff, I’d have the lens in no time lol. Had to have that stuff though… even if I haven’t used it lol

My workmates are at the Sex and the City movie tonight.. poop!… I will go tomorrow… then I will be kiddo free. I have entered the funnest comp (So you think you can scrap? (How cool is that title???)) at Scrapbooking By Design (SBBD) the deal was…

******This week you are scrapping with Meeks Style******
Meek likes to use penwork, to define, to outline, to doodle, to underline, to journal.
She loves to mix up those pattern papers in an eclectic fashion… No co-ordinating, complimentary shades here!!
Meeks most favourite ‘trendy’ thing at the moment is scallops!!
Her all time favourite embellishments are anything in the shape of stars or hearts and buttons or brads
She prefers to scrap 4×6 photos showing real everyday life as it happens, the more candid the better, and loves a bit of humour too!
Meek is drawn to happy, bright colours and stickers of the alphabet and cute variety!
Your page must show at least one example of EACH of the following:
penwork,
handwritten journaling,
a mix of pattern paper,
scallops,
stars or hearts,
buttons or brads,
4×6 photos showing candid everyday life shots
bright happy colour scheme
stickers

and here’s my go… was included in the points tally so I’m thrilled. Its a weekly comp and the scrapper with the most points wins… mind you 50 ladies have entered. I need this to get out of my no-scrappy-just-collecty-buy-more-stuff rut.

anyway……..

g’night… see you tomorrow

Lib x

p.s. nice to see you again… like the old joke

a polar bear walks into a bar and says…. “I’ll have a…………………………

whiskey.”

and the barman says… “Why the large pause?’

The polar bear says..” Dunno, Ive always had them”

ROTFL!
