The Sweet Success! Silje’s Bubble Tea

11 10 2009

Oh the ecstasy… The triumph! Ever since I first saw ‘Bubble Tea’ on Elsie’s blog, I have been fascinated by the what? how? & why? of Bubble Tea, and so for the past year (obviously not solidly… just when I remembered lol) I have been conducting some research into how I could experience this uber-cool Japanese drink. The ever-crafty Silje made some not so long ago and I left a comment on her blog asking how she makes it. (http://www.littlebirdcrafts.blogspot.com Silje’s blog – she is lovely and a crafting machine – super clever!) Well Silje left me a sweet note with really thorough instructions and now Robert is my Mother’s brother. (yeah… Bob’s your Uncle ;-) )

Viola!

It is a bit ‘kitchen wreckingly’ fiddly to make and probably not a drink I would make often, but the chewy ‘spheres’ are such a mouth sensation. I wish they came in sherbet flavour! I know what the fuss is now. I am satisfied that another of my ‘to do’ list has been accomplished and my holidays have not been so much of a waste as far as the list goes. I have achieved heaps and had so much fun with friends and family. I could get used to not going to work lol.

IMG_5616a

This gorgeous little square tablecloth is a bargain buy from Vinnies’ They have opened a new op shop store here in Singleton and I wandered in and picked up a heap of pillowcases (to make little shift dresses for the ladies) anyway the tablecloth is just an embroidered jobby just like everyone’s Nana has, but it’s now something I love it to plonk stuff on.

IMG_5614a

I have layouts to share… tomorrow! Need daylight to photograph them. Rona and I are not-so patiently waiting for the Jacaranda trees around town (there are hundreds of them) to burst into purple bloomingness. I was pretty confident they always bloom in September… a few have had a hint of colour, not enough to get great photos though. We just want to take photos of them, hopefully with the kids co-operating.

OK off to bed now… night all! Lib x

p.s. I used McClelland colourisations actions on the pics.

Happy Long Weekend!

7 06 2009

and here I am at home on a Sunday…. not working you say?

Indeed not working my pretties …

because I have recently been (nervously) through the Local Government interview process (again) and accepted a Customer Service position at Singleton Council… yipp yipp yeehar… no more working weekends or public holidays!

The ladies are astonished that Mumma is being so tough this weekend though… officially the rubbish that they used to get away with because I was only with them every second weekend (and exhausted and unable to put up a fight… I always gave in… while I worked they stayed with Mum) it can now STOP!!! I am being quite tough but if I’m going to survive with my sanity in tact, the rules are now enforceable… they don’t try half of the cheekyness with Mum as they do here with me. I think it’s that I’m on my own too. No back up of another adult. So as of now I’m toughening up on discipline and acceptable behaviour. Mind you it’s 10.30 pm and the little toads were just jumping up and down on my bed. They aren’t completely under control yet obviously… I wanted to sleep in this morning… 8 am was all I got.

Anyway that means more time to berl-loggy blog!

I beg your pardon? You don’t believe me? We shall see… shall we?

Bestest ever news! I am officially going to Kim Archer’s amazing retreat in November… that cannot come quick enough for me and I will no doubt be blabbering more about it as it gets closer. I went to the Skrapkatz weekend retreat last month and this year made myself a new handbag and managed to finish about 7 layouts … A new record ’cause normally I take a car load of stuff and all I do is gasbag and eat …

speaking of cars… I have a new (for me) car. I will take photos of it tomorrow. I have never loved a car like this… I did love my celica from my young and free days but my new wagon is the most perfect for us! I even bought personalised number plates. Because Jennifer Lopez is J-Lo I am L-Mo… like ELMO – gettit ??? Yeah not many do understand it lol.

Some of the retreat pages;

hide1gclgcr

and I HAD every intention of entering the Kaisercraft Dt call… so I started this… of course the deadline came and went before I finished the album… so here it is finally done. The best news is that (great mate and unofficial sister) Rona was awarded a position on the Kaisercraft DT… I have been telling her for ages that she would be a shoe-in for DT’s and mags… now she believes me… I think … I do love Kaisercraft’s mini albums and have so much of their mdf in my stash… Did you know there are flamingos on their new paper? … for what it’s worth I reckon flamingoes will be the new deer in scrapping lol

alb1alb2alb3alb4

So I’m about to put a scrapping dvd on and go glue my fingers together lol

Say hi if you are still reading,

Hi to Chris Millar and Rach who I’m still getting around to replying to …

much love

webpat5

Just got back from a Local Government Challenge in Sydney this week. We (our Singleton Council team) stayed at the Novotel Brighton Le Sands on
webpat6

where I’m pretty sure I saw Bob Hawke’s wife, Blanche De whatsit… was much fun…

I ran around before I left arranging some good clean green fun for St Pats day (the ladies are more than half Irish)… here they are in all their green glory, all ready for Kindy.

Have the best weekend everyone! well anyone who still reads here… went shopping today with the girls and Albert lol… poor lady at Spotlight is now an accomplice in my devious scheme to outwit the ladies… they had ‘placed’ about $300 worth of ‘important stuff’ into the trolley!… now they are kinda upset with said lady as she seemed to ‘forget’ to pack it all into our shopping bag…. honestly! its so hard to get good help these days. *snort*

Bye-eeee x

how about we just pretend?

16 03 2009

That I’ve been blogging regularly… I have missed blogging but obviously not enough to actually blog!

I think I am back now and since I have actually been making stuff I would like to share, I will. But not today… the photos are still in the camera *Snort*

Mucking around with glue ‘n stuff again…

9 11 2008

I bought some MORE fabric on Thursday. (*Eye roll*) Still don’t have the ‘perfect’ fabric for my bag (though I have enough for 3 bags now lol) The ladies have gone to Mum’s while I’m at work this weekend. Jason’s arm op went well and he has his car back, all fixed. My car has also had some major repairs done and two new tyres. Other than that, life is pretty good. Loving getting some scrapping done and Rona has the Buzz and Bloom ‘fruit salad’ and ‘The George’ albums in… YEE TEE HEE! Need to get a few things out of the way before I start on new stuff.

This is a Kaiser frame I have been working on and off for a few weeks. I love it.

Thanks for looking!

Have a great Sunday and don’t forget the free class from Jessica Sprauge, here in Australia we won’t get the first email until Monday, but I’m looking forward to starting that and maybe the Ali Edwards December Daily too.

Happy days xxx

Pretty things…

21 10 2008

Last week my boss and I headed out to Peterson’s Champagne House, about 15 minutes away (Yes that’s where Tamar (Tarisota) visited for her holiday) but I was there for my last component in the Wine Studies course…. oh yes many many hours of study! This was the Sommelier component and we had Michael (No. 2 in NSW – used to sommi at Waterfront restaurant in Sydney) as our teacher. He was brilliant and I learned so much. Geez I hate my job lol! A sommelier (som-elle-ee-er) is a wine/food match expert and is the person who, at better restaurants, develops a wine list which does not contain anything you can find at Woolworths liquor/BWS lol

*** Edited to add… I started this post much earlier and due to the fact that wordpress is such a doll… it saves every little while or so… boo sucks to be a typepad user lol I know heaps of bloggers and typepad girlies who are always whinging about ‘lost’ posts. Well my computer spat the large uploads (not wordpress’ fault) but WordPress had automatically saved my entry. YAY! WORDPRESS! If you are thinking of changing blogs or starting one up…. GO WORDPRESS!! I can now bring you the normally scheduled program lol… I hope you enjoy.

A few of my ‘new’ favourite things.

This is my classy new coffee mug. Makes me so happy!

This is the spunky new… ‘my old one fell apart’ purse. It can also be remembered as the ‘Oh My God Libby, I cannot believe you are coping on your own without copious amounts of money from me, your Mother’ purse. My Mum bought it for me…. and yeah it cost a bomb, but it’s so damask and so me… it has a shiny deep red bit too, you can just see it… delicious!

The Monica Poole bag is finished. Onward to the new Janelle Wind pattern. Thanks to a bit of Busy Needles (the local fabric store) and a kick in the bum/pain in the side from laughing – from Rona… I’m going to try to get to Fred the Needle at Penrith on Friday on the way to Canberra. Wish me luck! oh those Amy Butler, Mr Miller, Heather Bailey etc etc fabrics. I may not be able to afford the petrol to Canberra after that little spree! lol oh well

These two are just happy roses from a great day out at Petersons Champagne House. I love flowers!

Don’t forget Jessica Sprague is holding a fabulous free class. Just head over to her website, register and Bob’s your Uncle, Fanny’s your Aunt, you can start playing with the Stories In Hand class. This sort of offer doesn’t happen that often. Run! now GO!

Really excited to be heading off this week on a mini break (Bridget Jones) the girls are as excited as they can be about visiting the nations capital. To them, Canberra is just a place we talk about at the moment. Kindy excursion tomorrow to a ‘big’ school they aren’t going to attend. Oh well the bus trip will be spoken about at length and ad nauseum until the next kindy adventure. Bus trips are apparently ‘huge’!

There are workers taking apart and repairing one of our old wooden town bridges at the moment and every single time we travel over the ‘big’ bridge we have to mention ‘The Donolly Bridge’, ‘The Donolly Bridge’ which you can see from the big bridge. I am very sorry now that I ever mentioned what that huge orange crane was doing and why we can’t go over Claire’s bridge anymore. Not sure why the girls have to ‘own’ each bridge… I think it started ’cause the old wooden bridge near Mum’s is pink and as such became Charlotte’s pink bridge and then we had to find a purple bridge for the Bear…. anyway I’m sure that makes no sense to anyone.

Big hello’s to Megan, Jen, Mel, Rona & Stacey. Thanks for saying G’day and I will get around (hopefully tonight) to emailing you back. Off to pick up the girls now…

Ciao..

My haven’t you been busy…?

10 10 2008

Well, actually yes I have. The girls and I have moved out of Mum’s house 30km out of town and we are now living in Singleton. OH My God it’s so great! I am back on the ‘net in my own home. I really appreciate all the help Mum gave me to get back on my feet, but now I am back!!!! I am myself again. I can pretty much make my own life again. Well as much as I can around a full time job and single Mum to twins. The girls are great and I feel very blessed to have it so good at the moment. I want to blog a bit more often as I have been able to scrap and sew a bit more now. I’m refreshed, and renewed and I have my own scrap room again. Life is bloody marvellous!

I took the girls to Mattara (Newcastle festival) last weekend. Bought a little bit of stuff at Shop and Crop (lol) and then off to ride on ponies and the carousel. (At $5 a pop thanks very much) Even though it was raining, I had been promising to take the girls to the beach and so we walked over to Nobby’s and went for a paddle. Claire decided it was a much better idea to stay safely on the sand and mind the towels lol and Chuck bowled straight into the surf, got knocked down, jumped up wanted to swim out to one of the ships anchored out at sea. Those two girls are just chalk and cheese.

Anyway I thought I’d start this ‘ol bloggy up again and off we go!

Send in the clowns….

4 09 2007

clowashweb.jpg

* Circus was (of course) fantastic. The girls loved it, I loved it, Gabu was picked out of the crowd to have knives thrown at him by the clown…
* The lions rowred on cue, the effin-ahs were terrific, of course no photos inside, but I managed to take a few outside after the performance. The chubby ringmaster had about 15 changes of spangly, sparkly suits. The trapeze was (all of the ‘up in the air’ stuff) astounding. All in all a brilliant night out.

* Now tell me seriously that you really thought I had a new ‘human’ man??? No, I didn’t think so. .. here is my new love…

purpleman.jpg

His name is Peter Purple and he is strong, clever and never will let me down.. I reckon if I treat this one right (I broke the arm of my last two loves, and it was really easy too) that he will be mine forever ROTFL!

Come on, you didnt think he was real, surely?

Libby Lou – The Bush Kangaroo!

7 07 2007

Hello there!
I’ve finally had something named after me… A baby girl kangaroo! I saved a Joey last week on the way home from work, It’s Mummy had been run over and ‘Libby’ was peeking out of the pouch. So 50klm and two excited little girls later (Charlotte nearly poked it’s eyes out patting it ‘goodnight’) I handed ‘Libby Lou the Bush Kangaroo’ over to Wildlife Aid and as she is 7 months old, Libby will be fine. 1 2 3 Ohhhhhhh!

Now! Photo class finished, yay! and here is my end of class masterpiece, I put the camera on a borrowed tripod, set the exposure for…. a bloody long time and got a somewhat imperfect but truely magnificent photo (according to me! lol) So I give you….

Singleton Nightlife!!!

endofclass.jpg

Miss Megan and I started the class to improve our skills, Miss Megan is already a fabulous photographer and we found it hilarious to be standing OUTSIDE a pub in the freezing cold taking pictures of the car headlights as they passed. Im sure the local army lads thought Paris Hilton was going to show up… 5 cameras all pointing at the pub… come on… that’s gotta be something big for Singleton.

So I taught at Scrapkatz on Wednesday night, another crazy class, mad bound mini book inside a ‘trendy tins’ from KI, of all the days Dad needed Mum to bind something for his work. I had to rush home after work and get the binding machine ‘casue Mum had been using it. (Well it is hers I suppose) The class went well, I think. Hiya Miss Rona and Miss Pauline (*waving*) I know you read now, thanks for the comments. Miss Rona remind me to send you the bloglines link! Then the blogs only appear when something is new. [A HUGE TIMESAVER!!!]

Um oh yeah!!! You need to see this chicks blog, heaps of new CHA links and sneaky peeks

If you scroll down and see the secret keeper cards from Urban Lily, which I am very much loving, and when they are released, IF I DON”T GET ANY!!!! there will be thunderous dark days.

(*Rubbing my hands together* Thanks to the Scraploot sale I ordered $80 worth of Wild Asparagus (My fav) paper and paid a measley $30 for it…. HAPPY HAPPY DAYS!!!! I should really stop with the purchases now for a while…. no really I should! {Moving right along… hoping no one is taking notes LOL!}

Been buying more crazy crap on ebay, I’m also going a little crazy for Rachel Greig’s new Stamp-It stamps... I keep some tissues handy at the letter box for my drool LOL! If you happen to notice, you can order retail through the Stamp-It wesite, quite handy really! Also they are peddling ‘cling film’ which is like vinyl stickers, I’m definately going to have to see how that works.

There is a birthday coming up soon… One special gorgeous girl, Miss O might just be having a celebration to mark her 7th birthday!

and these two pumpkin-heads turn 3 on the 28th July! I could live and work a thousand lifetimes and still never begin to pay them back for all the incredible joy they have brought into my life. (Remind me I said this next week LOL… two words; toilet… training LOL)

blogclaire.jpgblogchuck.jpg

Just wanted to say Hi to Kirst, take care of yourself in the countdown!

Jody, I’m getting to the tag… eventually!

Donna … I am going to email you… you have two sets of twins… how do you get time to use the net LOL?

Mrs Hall… love the new kit… I expect that’s all you’ll be doing for a while… kitting! LOL!

Karen.. you have me intriged??? What is going on?

Nic Finno… hey, loving the poke-ball (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) and all the fabric stuff going on!

and Hi Jane and Lissy, thanks for the comments about Nana George… funny isnt it? The way life shows you a way…

Anyway that’s probably enough rot from me for tonight… Happy weekend everybody, I, of course will be working, but dont let that stop you from enjoying yourself ROTFL
